The way you spend your time, energy, and resources reveals a lot about what’s important to you. Some things—like our health and our loved ones—are non-negotiables. It’s not wrong to care for our own needs, but left unchecked it can make us self-centered.
Serving challenges that mindset. When we prioritize giving time, attention, or energy for someone else, we train our hearts to value others’ needs above our own. It doesn’t just shift our priorities; it flips them.
Jesus modeled this perfectly. He came not to be served, but to serve—and in doing so, he redefined what it means to live a meaningful life. Every time we serve, we take a small step toward living the same way: open-handed with our time, talents, and resources, and fully aligned with God’s priorities.
Reflect: What is one thing I can give—time, energy, or resources—today that shifts my priorities toward God and others?
