Read: Genesis 12:1-9
Head
One of the most surprising things about Abraham's calling is what God doesn’t tell him. God tells Abraham to leave his home and go to a land he will show him—but he doesn’t give him the entire plan. Abraham has to move before he knows the destination.
We often want God to give us a five-year plan, a clear calling, and every detail before we obey. But Abraham's story shows that God often gives directions one step at a time. The journey itself becomes part of how God shapes us.
Abraham wasn’t chosen because he was already extraordinary. He was chosen because God is faithful. Through Abraham, God would create a nation and ultimately bring blessing to the entire world through Jesus. A man who started with uncertainty became a model of faith because he learned to trust the God who was leading him.
Heart
Many of us struggle with uncertainty because we believe we can only trust God once we understand everything he is doing. But faith requires surrender.
What step of obedience might God be asking you to take even though you don’t know where it leads?
Hands
Identify one area where you’ve been waiting for complete clarity before moving forward. Ask God to show you your next step every day—and then take it.
Pray: God, help me trust you when I can’t see everything that’s ahead. Give me faith like Abraham's to follow you even when the future feels uncertain. Teach me that your presence is better than having every answer. Amen.
