Joseph's story is filled with moments where it looked like God's plan had failed. His brothers betrayed him, he was sold into slavery, falsely accused, and forgotten in prison. Yet throughout the story, one phrase keeps appearing: “The Lord was with Joseph.”
Joseph's circumstances looked anything but blessed—but his story shows that God's presence isn’t proven by the absence of problems. In fact, God is often closest when life feels most confusing.
Years later, when Joseph stood face-to-face with the brothers who had hurt him, he could see something they couldn’t. God had been working through every painful chapter to bring about rescue. Joseph didn’t deny the evil that happened, but he trusted that God was bigger.

Most of us have chapters we would rather remove from our story: disappointments, failures, betrayals, times of waiting.
What part of your story do you need to trust God with?

Write down one difficult experience from your past. Next to it, write this question:
“How was God with me in that?”
Ask God to help you see your story through his perspective.
Pray: God, help me trust that you are working even when I can’t understand what you’re doing. Redeem the painful parts of my story and use them for your purposes. Remind me that nothing is wasted in your hands. Amen.
